Vision and Values

Our Vision

RSCC exists to call people to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ.

Our Values

Biblical Truth

Scripture is the inerrant and inspired word of God. Truth is from God - and the Bible His word. Therefore, the Bible can trusted as true and authoritative.

Radical Grace

God has been so good to us! He has given us forgiveness and freedom through Jesus Christ - and because we have experienced radical grace, we also give radical grace. Scripture teaches that every sin can be forgiven and every sinner made new - and so we live with radical grace.

Everyone is Invited

Jesus sought out the broken and forgotten. He engaged the lost and lonely. There is no one who is disqualified from the invitation to meet Jesus. And so we invite everyone. No matter what. Everyone is invited to find hope and redemption at the feet of Jesus.

Celebrate Homecoming

In the Prodigal Son story, Jesus notes that when the son comes home, the father runs off the porch, wraps him up in his arms, and calls for a celebration! The greatest moment in anyone's life is the moment that they repent, turn around, and come home. We love to celebrate homecoming!

Belligerent Hope

Jesus promises to rule a kingdom that will never perish, spoil, or fade. And as followers of Jesus, we hold on to that hope with unwavering certainty. We will not be shaken. We will not be moved. Jesus is our King, our Lord, and our Savior! Our hope is firmly implanted in Him.

What we Believe

God

God is the only sovereign, wise, and good creator of all things, who reigns as king over all creation for His own glory. He is all powerful, all knowing, always present. He is eternal. He always has been and always will be. By Him everything was created and has its being. We believe that God is, by nature, holy. That means He is set apart and cannot interact with sin. This results in a problem for us, as we are sinners. There is a divide between us and God. Because of our sin, we are deserving of God’s wrath (Romans 6:23).

Christ

We believe that there is only one way to bridge the divide between God and man, and that was accomplished through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that sin was put to death at the cross and the hope of forgiveness, freedom, and eternal salvation was brought to life at the resurrection. This is only possible through the belief and acceptance of the good news of the Gospel which says: Jesus is the Son of God, lived a perfect life, died for our sin, raised again three days later, and now reigns forever in victory over sin and death. Jesus is not a way, but THE only way (John 14:6). He is not only our Savior, but He is Lord of our lives. This means that He not only sets us free from the penalty of sin, but He is also the authority we submit to in all aspects of life (Colossians 1:15-20).

Man

We believe that man is created by God and is the pinnacle of His creation. He calls us beloved and treasured. We believe our purpose is to worship God and bring glory to His name. We believe that the sin in the garden created a divide between sinful man and a holy God that cannot be overcome by anything we do. We are powerless to save ourselves.

Response

In response to all these things, we practice baptism through immersion for the forgiveness of sin and the gift of the Holy Spirit. This means that when we get baptized, we receive an indwelling of God’s Holy Spirit that now guides our thoughts and actions to be more and more like Jesus. Once we receive the good news of Jesus as our Savior, we believe it is then the responsibility of every Christian to live life to bring others to know, love, and serve Jesus. This is done through biblical living, acts of service, sacrificial giving, and evangelism/discipleship. Ephesians 2:8-9
